Generations

After many seasons of youthful trends-leggings, minidresses, the skinny jean-it’s been a relief for women in there 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond to see things take a turn. Fall collections are better suited for women in midlife than for adolescence. As we age dressing gets easier. It’s okay for your wardrobe to get much less involved. As you get older, you do tend to dress more in uniform. Hence how many black pants do you have in your closet?
In my 40’s by designer Kara Ross: “If you don’t feel comfortable in it, no matter how much you love it, then you have no business wearing it! As we age we realize the importance of accessories. I choose my jewelry and bag first, and then I plan the rest of my outfit. Jeans or black pants and a crisp white shirt are like blank canvases so the accessories really pop”.
Remember dressing to look younger than you are always has the opposite effect.

Sometimes I see elderly women still wearing clothes from their era. I just smile because I think they look cute. I'm sure it is also economical for the elderly. You can see that they really were stylish is their younger years.

Truer words were never said. My mom had a friend who shall remain nameless (to protect her privacy). She dressed like she was 16 and not 50. She was a hoot. We couldn't wait for her to come over so that we could see what she was wearing. Most importantly she didn't care what we thought. We would all try to tell her but she had her own sense of style. She was one confidant woman.

I think everyone knows someone who could use a little fashion sense.

I love reading this....My sister who is older than I needs a little help in this area...Yes, she is confident but that doesn't mean that she shouldn't heed some advice and get with the times.....She is still wearing stretch jeans with peg legs...remember those? And if she reads this lighten up the hair...Black is way to harsh on you at your age.

Too funny! I guess we all know someone struggling to hold onto to youth by dressing "too" young. Actually, it's pretty sad and screams I am OLD! I'm in my fifties and want to be seen as tasteful and sophisticated in my dress...not trashy! I think women feel that if the older celebrities can do it...so can they. So, they bare rippled, dimpled skin with their belly shirts and low rise jeans. Eek!! If you are not Cher...don't try this at home…and good grief don’t try it in public!
