Jil Sander/Uniqlo

UNIQLO is Japan's most popular apparel retailer and a worldwide leader in casual wear. They showed up about six months ago in NYC and they are here to stay.
Jil Sander is reported to be on the brink of signing a contract with Uniqlo, which will see her take overall creative control of the value fashion chain’s women’s wear and men’s wear ranges. In addition to overseeing Uniqlo’s main fashion ranges, Jil Sander is expected to create a special collection for Uniqlo using her minimal look.

Sander is the latest in a long line of designers to collaborate with high street chains. Most recently Alexander McQueen produced a range for US chain Target, while H&M has worked with Stella McCartney and Roberto Cavalli. A shopper stampede often ensues at the launch of designer collections.
