In an effort to lure consumers who have gotten increasingly blasé about mere mark-downs, shop owners are reaching deeper into their bag of tricks. Some are holding special events. Others are offering trade-ins with a charitable angle.
Customers should bring in broken,unwanted or out-of-style gold jewelry into the Madison Avenue location. There the jewelry will be appraised. Or hold a handbag swap where her customers can exchange purses with one another inside the store.


Other shops are doing trade-ins for in-store discounts. Shoppers can bring in gently worn bras for charity donation, and subsequently receive a discount on a new bra at the shop.

Retailers do have to become more innovated to get people into their stores. One way I feel is customer service. Build on your reputation to be a customer friendly store.
