Apps have proven to be a high-growth area for retailers and luxury brands looking for new ways to connect with consumers.
We would like to share with you our favorite fashion apps found on iTunes, but we also threw in some just for the giggles.
Fashion Sense: This teaches women how to choose nine essential items of clothing based on body style. For those who are avid fans of "What Not to Wear" and any makeover show, you're probably familiar with the advice found on this $1.99 app. But it's still fun to have.
Hairstyle: Upload a picture of yourself, then choose from a library of 9,000 hairstyles to see what is the most flattering on you. The cost $2.99
Tattoo Patterns: Considering permanent body art? This $1.99 app offers more than a hundred pattern ideas and an opportunity to see just what it might look like when the ink dries.
MakeUp: Upload a picture of yourself to this 99-cent app, which uses facial-recognition technology, and try out different shades of makeup until you find the perfect color.
ColorMatch: Not just for fashion, this $2.99 app suggests five coordinating colors to any color you take a picture of or create on your own -- making it easy to see if those shoes really go with the outfit.
ShopStyle: Longing for a specific fashion item? Look it up in this free app, which features clothing and accessories from major brands, then e-mail the items to yourself or others, along with where-to-buy information -- or click a link that will take you directly to online retailers' sites to buy at that moment.
Lucky at Your Service Digital Concierge: The favorite shopping magazine has done an excellent job of turning itself into a multimedia experience. Love a sweater in the magazine? The free app will locate the sweater in a store near you.
