Glamorous Eyelash Options

Everything that occurs naturally on our body serves a purpose! Eyelashes protect the eye from debris and are sensitive to being touched, thus providing a warning that an object is near the eye (which is then closed reflexively). However, it’s amazing the abuse we’ll go through in order to achieve the beauty of long lush beautiful lashes.
Eyelash extensions add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes. Synthetic single fiber polyester thread-like materials are applied to individual eyelashes to create a fuller, longer look. The adhesive used is surgical-grade. Eyelash extensions may last from two weeks to two months, depending on the cycle of hair growth. Many salons now do lash extensions.
Eyelash transplants are similar in nature to hair transplantation often done on the head. Doctors first remove 30 or 40 hair follicles at the back of the scalp and then sew them one by one into the patient's eyelids. Since the hair is transplanted from the hair on the head, the new eyelashes will continue to grow like head hair and will need to be trimmed regularly.
Latisse was introduced in the first quarter of 2009 by Allergan as the first drug to receive FDA approval for eyelash growth. Latisse is a solution of bimatoprost, the active component of the glaucoma medication Lumigan. According to Allergan, noticeable eyelash growth occurs within 16 weeks. Growth is reported to occur primarily on the upper eyelashes. Prescription required.
False Eyelashes. Many women love this option. Sometimes it's fun to go for glamour with false eyelashes. Relatively inexpensive and no surgery involved. Choose any color. Useless fact: False eyelashes were invented by an American film director in 1916.
The least expensive, most widely available option is of course, mascara!
Now go forth and bat those lashes!
