Sky High Stilettos

Many fashionistas often go to extremes and unhealthy lengths to wear stylish stilettos. With celebrities increasingly wearing sky-high stilettos and platform shoes like Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham and the cast of Sex and the City, consumers are increasingly demanding higher heels. The stiletto heel gives the illusion of a longer, slimmer leg, a smaller foot and a greater overall height. It is also said that a stiletto shoes can change the way women walk and hold themselves, and in doing so, it can make the bust and buttocks more noticeable.
No one really knows who invented the stiletto heels French shoe designer André Perugia is the first verified creator of the slim heel. But it would be another French designer, Roger Vivier who would take this very sexy shoes into new heights.
The stiletto shoes (named after the stiletto dagger), reached the height of its popularity during the 1950s and the 1960s. With the onset of the 1970s casual dressing and the 1980s more sporty looks, the stilettos where hard to find. In the late 1990s and the 2000s saw the return of the stiletto as a high fashion accessory. For Fall 2010 and Winter 2011, stilettos are on every fashionistas wish list. Well maybe not every! I never could wear them. How about you?

I love the look of stilettos, but sometimes have difficulty walking in them myself. I prefer more of a chunky heel, or a wedge. :)

I love the extra height I get from stilettos, but I do wish they were a wee bit more comfortable. Ah, the price of fashion!
