Royal Hats

“Will you be celebrating the British royal wedding on Friday? Well if you are I hope you have your hat ready! Not only will everyone be watching to see Kate’s bridal gown, one other highlight will be the hats!
Britain's love of hats has always been in a different league with its bowlers, top hats, boaters and countless ladies creations worn by royals and commoners alike through the centuries, a beloved tradition that will be in full-force at Prince William and Kate Middleton's April 29 wedding.
Kate Middleton has commissioned flamboyant hat-maker Philip Treacy to create headgear for the Royal Wedding party. Treacy designed Camilla Parker Bowles's dramatic feathered fascinator when she married Prince Charles in 2005.
"Hats have long denoted status," says Oriole Cullen, curator of a Victoria & Albert Museum. "Up until the 1950s, a woman wasn't even considered properly dressed unless she was wearing a hat and gloves."
