Photographer Peter Lindbergh shot Gwyneth Paltrow for Coach's Spring/Summer ad campaign.
Coach celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2011 and now has more reason to celebrate. The American luxury goods brand came in No. 3 among the “U.S. Top 50 Most-Searched Luxury Brands in 2011,” beating out Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Prada. BMW and Audi came in 1st and 2nd respectively. Pretty impressive.
On the other hand, French luxury goods house Hermès International SCA won $100 million in damages against dozens of websites selling knockoffs of its Kelly and Birkin handbags as well as other iconic Hermès items. All the websites had ignored temporary restraining orders that barred them from selling fake Hermès merchandise, including Birkin and Kelly handbags, wallets, watches, belts and jewelry. In fact, the websites didn’t even bother defending themselves in federal court.
Online sales of counterfeit clothes, bags and jewelry cost makers of original products about $30 billion a year, Tiffany & Co. and other retailers claimed in a U.S. lawsuit.
