Jean Paul Gaultier in Brooklyn

An exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s work will be displayed at the Brooklyn Museum.  The designer will be there for the media on Oct 23 to greet his fans.

A mannequin that looks like him will also greet visitors at the entrance to the show. Designed by Jolicoeur International, his lifelike form also winks flirtatiously and has a recording of his voice.
True to Gaultier’s provocative reputation, there will be S&M-inspired pairing as well as mannequins of a variety of shapes and sizes.  There will be many mannequins to startle visitors.
Once it opens to the public Oct. 25, “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” will be on view through Feb. 23 before moving on to stops in London, Melbourne and Paris.
This multimedia exhibition shows the designer from his earliest days in the 70’s till his most recent collections.  The display will also showcase accessories, sketches, stage costumes, film excerpts, and clips from runway shows.

When: October 25 through February 23
Where: Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway (at Washington Avenue); 718-638-5000. Tickets: $12 suggested contribution.
